I’m just starting to get back into Warhammer 40K. I was madly into 40k during Rogue Trader, and then was a avid club player from the start of 5th edition through 7th. 8th edition lost my interest, and 9th I found even harder to get into, but 10th has hit more of a sweet spot between depth and simplicity, and the new miniatures coming out are fantastic.
A good friend of mine (Leonidas) passed on at the start of the Summer, and Sisters of Battle were always his favorite force. I’ve always liked them as well, and the updated plastics are something he would have loved to have time to assemble and paint himself, so I’m going to fly that flag for him! He actually passed over his Sisters of Battle when he was sick, so I have a solid core of minis from the Order of the Martyred Lady in metal.
The current meta really moves away from the older load-outs, though (athough its great to see some classics like Palatines and Jet Pack Cannoness options returning from 3rd Edition!) I’m planning on painting 500pt forces to build up a fantastic army, using my friends minis and paint style where I can as the core. New tanks like Castigators really add needed punch, new warsuits are just frankly cool, and some of the newer minis look amazing.
Here are my friend’s classic Sisters of Battle in all their glory.
